Bill’s Restaurant and Jamie’s Italian were today confirmed as the latest chains to join the line-up of foodservice operators at Southampton’s new WestQuay Watermark development.
The £80m leisure-led project, which is managed by developer Hammerson, has already attracted a raft of names from the high street dining market, including Wahaca, Byron, Five Guys, Zizzi and Nando’s.
It will be some time before fit-out and kitchen contractors are on the scene, however, as ground breaking and piling only commenced in March. Developers say the project is making “good progress” and is on schedule to open in late 2016.
Bill’s Restaurant, which will be making its debut in Southampton, has taken a 3,100 square foot unit located on the lower promenade of the scheme. The restaurant will open out onto the new plaza and accommodate an outside seating area.
Roberto Moretti, managing director of Bill’s, said: “We are delighted to be part of the new WestQuay Watermark development. It’s very exciting to be part of this new destination and to be opening a restaurant in Southampton, and we are looking forward to bringing great Bill’s food, atmosphere and service to the party.”
Jamie’s Italian has taken a 5,100 square foot unit in what also marks its first restaurant in Southampton.
Sarah Fox, head of restaurants and leisure at Hammerson, said: “Both Bill’s Restaurant and Jamie’s Italian are great additions to the array of restaurants we have already attracted to WestQuay Watermark. Welcoming more new restaurants to Southampton is testament to the fantastic new leisure and dining hub we are bringing to the city and only strengthens the appeal that it will have for customers to enjoy the premier retail, leisure and dining destination in the area.”
