Chicken and waffle restaurant chain Bird is opening three new sites outside of London.
The first site will open in Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre, Gillingham, Kent in August and the second and third sites in Port Solent Marina, Portsmouth in September.
With new locations and offerings, Bird is creating 400 job openings for people in and around all seven of its restaurant locations (Camden, Islington, Brixton, Canary Wharf, Kent and two in Portsmouth) and two dark kitchens (Nottingham and Brighton) for managers, assistant managers, chefs and front of house team members.
As part of the chain’s long term expansion and development plans, it has spent lockdown refitting its Islington branch, adding in four screens to offer diners a place to enjoy the upcoming sporting events. The Bird team has also revamped its menu, offering new items, as well as bringing some customer favourites back by demand – with a few improvements.
Senior partner, Charles Beer said: “Bird’s soul comes alive through its people and its food, so we are delighted to be able to touch on both; creating 400 new job opportunities in the local communities as well as introducing fantastic new menu items.
“Lockdown has been hard for many, but we hope the local job opportunities our Bird restaurants will offer will help people bounce back. Part of our brand ethos is to inspire our teams to reach out and connect with people in the local communities and to make a difference in someone else’s day, which is what we hope to do with our vacancies.
“We’ve also listened to our wonderful Bird fans and we’ve introduced some fun new dishes and reinvented some old classics with some new recipes.
“This is an exciting time for Bird with more ventures in the pipeline.”
