Blizzard takes on high-end brands with A and B rated refrigeration

Blizzard Premium range

Pentland Wholesale has expanded its range of catering equipment with the launch of the Blizzard Premium line of refrigerators and freezers.

The launch caps three years of design work that the business has undertaken following the recent implementation of the Ecodesign directive, which sees commercial refrigeration equipment receive an energy rating.

As a result it set out to produce an energy efficient product able to compete with the traditional high-end brands at a much lower cost.

The cabinets run on hydrocarbon refrigerants and are rated A & B for the refrigerator and freezer respectively with kWh/annum of 299 and 1065.

The sleek design and membrane style controller all add to the appearance of a product that Pentland insists would not look out of place in the most modern of kitchens.

The cabinets include high efficiency fans and compressors, LED internal lights, integrated shelf supports for easy cleaning, 85mm insulation and an embossed door and gasket designed to keep heat transfer to a minimum.

Based on an average electric tariff of 10p/kw typical running costs of the refrigerator are £29.90 per year and £106.50 per year for the freezer, according to the company.

Double-door versions of both the refrigerator and freezer will be launched in the second quarter of 2017 to complete the range.
