BRITA Professional is teaming up with industry charity, Hospitality Action (HA), to host the Purity C Steam Bike Challenge, a static speed cycling competition, at this year’s Great Hospitality Show.
The challenge marks the launch of BRITA Purity C Steam and HA’s 180th anniversary.
BRITA will be inviting visitors to ‘let off steam’ at the show by going up against each other in a race against the clock with participants challenged to see how far they can cycle in 180 seconds, the average time it takes to exchange the Purity C Steam cartridge.
The challenge, which will run in the CESA lounge on 24 and 25 January, will see £10 donated to HA by BRITA for every person who takes part. In addition to raising money for Hospitality Action (HA), those who take part will be in with a chance of bagging themselves a meal at a Michelin-starred restaurant up to the value of £250.
Chef Hayden Groves (main picture), who sits of the board of HA, will be on hand to kick start the campaign, as well as explain the benefits of using a filter for combi ovens and steamers and the impact it has on the taste and appearance of food in a professional kitchen.
Glenn Roberts, sales director at BRITA Professional, commented: “According to our recent research, almost two thirds (63%) of chefs don’t know that untreated water can cause a combi oven to breakdown. The Purity C Steam filter was developed with this in mind and has been designed specifically to meet the needs of chefs and their demand for quality and ease of use at a lower entry-level price.
“We hope that our speed cycling challenge in aid of Hospitality Action will bring out exhibition goers’ competitive streaks and highlight just how quick and easy to install the new Purity C Steam actually is. It’s a real honour to work with CESA and HA to help support the incredible work the charity does for the industry.”
Penny Moore, chief executive of Hospitality Action, said: “We were delighted to be asked to work with BRITA on this exciting fundraising challenge. This year Hospitality Action is celebrating its 180th birthday in style with a jam-packed year of fundraising events. We’ve set ourselves an ambitious target to raise at least £1.8m over the coming twelve months so please do come and show your support for our Purity C Steam Bike Challenge with BRITA at the CESA lounge.”
