Burger King claims to have got one over its arch nemesis McDonald’s by declaring that a Big Mac was “hidden” within every advertisement promoting its Whopper last year.
Revealing its stunt in a tweet captioned ‘Thanks for having our back this year Maccy Ds #WhopperSecret’, the chain released a video suggesting that it placed its rival’s flagship product behind every Whopper captured on film and camera during 2019.
It stated: “[Last] year at Burger King, we kept a whopper of a secret. Everybody knows our burger is more generous than that other burger.
“So we thought we’d prove it, by hiding a ‘Big’ Mac behind every Whopper we photographed. There was a ‘Big’ Mac in every single Whopper advert in the UK in 2019.
“So there you are, confession made. Our secret’s out. Thank you Maccy D’s for having our back in 2019.”
The video then proceeds to show a series of TV commercials, Instagram posts and billboard advertisements, with the Whopper removed to reveal a Big Mac behind it.
McDonald’s has declined to respond.
