Lawrence Kenwright, chairman of hotel group Signature Living, has vowed to give his hotel away for the evening and a free bar in one of his restaurants if England win the World Cup.
Hotel boss Kenwright, who runs a string of properties in Liverpool, Cardiff, Preston and Belfast and is the co-owner of the renowned football-themed Shankly Hotel in Liverpool, took to his Twitter portal following Saturday’s 2-0 win over Sweden to offer his hotel as a prize should the English national team go all the way and bring the trophy home.
@LawKenwright said: “This is incredible ! If we actually go all the way and win the World Cup, I’ll throw a huge party. I’ll give away an entire hotel for free for a night and a free bar at Alma De Cuba for everyone ! You can all hold me to this!”
His representatives confirmed the offer was genuine.
Signature Living is also currently working on three further football themed hotels which will open in 2018/2019, including the new £15m George Best Hotel in Belfast which is being built in tribute to the Manchester United and Northern Ireland player.
The Dixie Dean Hotel in Liverpool – in honour of the Everton legend Dixie Dean – is also being built. Developed in conjunction with the family of Dixie Dean, the £12m development sits across the road from the Shankly Hotel.
A second £12m Shankly Hotel is also currently being built in Preston in collaboration with the Shankly family and is due to open later this year.
