Leading trade body Ceda has hailed the importance of innovation kitchen design in driving successful catering environments as it returns as a category sponsor for the 2019 FEJ Awards.

The association, whose members include kitchen design, installation, project and service specialists from across the UK, will once again endorse the ‘Operator of the Year for Innovative Kitchen Design’ award.

Adam Mason, director general at Ceda, said: “Working in close conjunction with their operator customers, Ceda members deliver innovative kitchen design on a daily basis, all over the country and in all sectors of the industry. It’s therefore an excellent fit for Ceda to sponsor this award to recognise those operators with concept visions that are inspiring our designers.”

The award that Ceda is sponsoring – and which the company will present to the winning foodservice business on Tuesday 4 June at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole – recognises the significance of a well-designed kitchen to achieving a happy team of chefs, impeccable service and outstanding food.

Last year the award went to Mitchells & Butlers brand Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery for a huge conversion project that saw its sites fitted with state-of-the-art pizza ovens.

Mr Mason said Ceda the work carried out by Ceda members every week is evidence of the investments that operators are making to identify the right design and lay-out to ensure operational excellence.

He said: “Recognising and rewarding excellence is always a good thing. Promoting inspiration and aspiration can only help to drive the industry to greater successes. We were happy to be involved in the inaugural FEJ Awards in 2018 and are delighted to return this year. The awards give us the opportunity to raise the profile of Ceda and Ceda members to the operator community.”

Ceda will again have a large presence at the Commercial Kitchen show and has been working with organisers Diversified Communications to introduce new initiatives to the 2019 event. “In addition to those, it’s always a great opportunity to meet with members, partners, end-users, operators and the wider industry,” added Mr Mason.
