Chain heats up expansion plan by offering to give away 5,000 pizzas

A budding pizza chain has promised to cook and give away 5,000 Neapolitan pizzas to mark the opening of a new site this summer.

Rudy’s Neapolitan Pizza has urged customers to sign up ONLINE to be in with a chance of tasting its classic dishes for free when its Sheffield restaurant launches in June.

The “relaxed neighbourhood pizzeria” is situated at the former Lonestar Site in the heart of the city centre.

Rudy’s launched its first site in 2015, in Manchester, and has gone onto open further restaurants in Leeds, Greater Manchester, Soho, Liverpool and Birmingham. Sheffield will be its 11th site.

The brand follows the authentic Neapolitan tradition of pizza making, serving classic recipes such as marinara, margherita and calabrese, which all originate from the Italian city.

Dough is made fresh daily using Caputo ‘00’ flour which ferments for at least 24 hours, alongside the best quality ingredients imported twice a week from Naples, including San Marzano tomatoes grown on fields next to Mount Vesuvius, and Fior di Latte mozzarella.

The dough is made fresh on site every day and cooked in wood-fired ovens for just 60 seconds, all in accordance with Neapolitan pizza tradition, leaving it soft and floppy with a leopard patterned crust.

The company said it is looking for pizzaiolis and front-of-house staff to aid its expansion.
