A former head chef at The Dorchester and The Grosvenor who has spent the latter half of his career in catering equipment sales has taken on a new post with Sprint Group.
Martin Lyon, who was the youngest chef in the UK to win the coveted AA Rosette while at Lewtrenchard Manor in 1987, has joined the Worcestershire-based commercial catering firm to run its sales activities in East Anglia.
Having hung up his chef whites, Mr Lyon has enjoyed a career in catering design at Rational, Garner’s, KCM, Airedale and most recently Lockhart.
His position was made redundant following Lockhart’s merger with Aggora, but he’s delighted to have resumed his career with Sprint.
He said: “I remember the days when I worked in the kitchens with extremely hot, inefficient appliances and conditions, now you can achieve a really comfortable working environment and I look forward to bringing my experience to Sprint and the team to achieve this for our clients.”
Sprint Group is currently celebrating 25 years of trading and Mr Lyon’s appointment and subsequent focus on the East Anglia region forms part of its expansion strategy.
