Compass Group has appointed Chris Garside as its new managing director for the UK & Ireland. Garside was previously the boss of its group subsidiaries ESS and Chartwells.
He replaces Dennis Hogan, who is returning to the US to take on the role of CEO of Foodbuy, replacing Tony Shearer who will be retiring in 2018.
Garside will report into Dominic Blakemore, who is due to become Compass CEO next year.
Hogan, meanwhile, will remain in the UK & Ireland business until the end of the year and will work with Garside to enable a smooth transition, according to the caterer.
Blakemore said: “I’d like to thank Dennis for the exceptional contribution he’s made to our UK & Ireland business over the last four years. Dennis’ focus on driving sustainable growth has put the business on a strong footing and I’m delighted that Chris will be leading our UK & Ireland team in the next stage of its journey.”
Garside will be replaced at Chartwells by Richard Taylor, its current COO.
Compass is the largest catering and support services provider in the UK, with annual sales of £2 billion.
