Deliveroo is planning to scale the team of engineers that it has in place to lead key projects, such as the technology that powers Deliveroo Editions, its hub of delivery-only ‘super’ kitchens.
The company plans to hire hundreds of senior engineers in the UK and dozens of senior engineers in New York, which will see its New York team expand to 50 people next year.
New hires will include product managers and designers, with the enlarged team leading integral projects such as the technology behind Deliveroo Editions, which spans a network of more than 200 kitchens around the globe.
The company has just appointed Dan Winn as its chief technology officer and he will lead Deliveroo’s work across engineering, data science, design and user research. He initially joined the company as VP of engineering last year having previously worked for Google, Amazon and Microsoft.
He said: “Since joining Deliveroo it has been incredible to see the ambition of the team here. Deliveroo is building a world-class tech team here in the UK, attracting some of the best talent from around the world to our offices in London, Edinburgh, and now our New York offices.
“We want to become the definitive food company and I truly believe that with the innovation central to Deliveroo as a business – along with the passion and drive of the team here – we can achieve that.”
