DPG prepares for sit-down pizza restaurants in the UK

Domino’s Pizza Group franchisees have secured planning permission to open sit-down restaurants in Maidstone, Dundee and Hull.

Planning was granted in Maidstone for a 60-cover restaurant, while Hull and Dundee outlets will have up to 40 covers.

The company, which describes itself as the world’s leading pizza delivery company, has steered clear of table service in the UK until now, but suggests it is open to ideas from its franchisees.

DPG’s says it is committed to support franchisees and in-store teams in their efforts to run smooth and profitable Domino’s Pizza businesses and to ensure that high brand standards are achieved in all stores.

To do this, DPG employs a team of over 400 people who work in a range of store support functions at locations in the UK.

2015 was a record year for DPG, with 61 new store openings contributing to a total of 931 stores run by 87 franchisees. Revenue rose to £283.7 million with profit rising to £73.2 million.
