Ei Group plans to persist with an initiative that gives suppliers, including catering equipment manufacturers, an opportunity to pitch their services to its buyers.
The monthly supplier ‘Open Morning’ sessions were first launched 18 months ago and saw prospective new suppliers given a 20-minute slot in which to outline their product or service to key members of Ei Group’s procurement team.
Over the past 18 months, the team has received presentations from more than 100 suppliers which share the company’s focus on pub retailing excellence across a number of categories.
Those that have been successful include a range of catering equipment providers as well as menu, beverage and POS suppliers.
Miles Selby, procurement director at Ei Group, confirmed that the success of the programme had persuaded the chain, which has 4,000 outlets, to continue it in 2020.
The first session of the year is scheduled for 29 January at Ei Group’s Pub Support Centre in Solihull and from then on it will be repeated monthly.
“Since launching our ‘Open Mornings’ initiative we’ve gone on to work with some innovative and committed companies of all sizes that help support our publicans in running successful businesses at the heart of their communities,” said Mr Selby.
“We’d very much encourage more suppliers to attend if they feel they can help give our publicans the edge in the year ahead when it comes to driving footfall and sales,” he added.
