Electrolux investment fortifies its full kitchen solution message

Darren Lockley, head of UK & Ireland, Electrolux Professional

Electrolux Professional will use the upcoming launch of its new SkyLine combi oven and blaster chiller range to reinforce its status as one of the only brands to be able to offer a full suite of kitchen solutions.

The new portfolio, which was unveiled last week, represents the culmination of an exhaustive three-year development programme that is indicative of the manufacturer’s ambitions to be seen as ‘best in class’, according to UK managing director Darren Lockley.

Previous product releases in categories such as warewashing and refrigeration, with Green & Clean and Ecostore respectively, have demonstrated its commitment to creating equipment capable of standing out in markets inhabited by single-product competitors and SkyLine takes that on a step further.

“I think for a long time you have had to be regarded as a specialist to have a best-in-class product. Electrolux Professional is now showing that you can have best-in-class products across a lot of ranges,” Mr Lockley told FEJ.

The foundations of its latest offering are built on enduring characteristics such as robustness and reliability, but it is also clear that the brand feels the age of connected appliances is now firmly upon us. It admits there are still challenges to address in terms of the way customers feel about data, particularly when kitchens are full of internet-enabled equipment from multiple suppliers.

Electrolux hopes the fact that it is in a position to be able to offer a full suite of kitchen products leaves it better placed than anyone to sooth those concerns, even more so since recent acquisitions have catapulted it into areas where it previously had no proposition.

Electrolux’s acquisition of SPM Drink Systems has given it a branded frozen dessert equipment offering that will be extended to the UK.

The takeover of both coffee equipment maker Grindmaster-Cecilware and ice cream machine manufacturer SPM within the last year means that it won’t be long before UK customers have access to an Electrolux branded beverage and frozen dessert equipment offer too.

“I can’t give you exact time scales but we anticipate we will have something probably mid-way through this year,” revealed Mr Lockley.
