Former Compass Group innovation chief Steve Lovegrove has switched to the equipment side of the industry, taking over as sales director at Sanremo UK.
Mr Lovegrove has spent many years in the coffee industry, including the last five at Compass, where he headed up its coffee and café brands.
He was part of the team that rolled out the Caffe Dallucci retail concept, giving FEJ an exclusive insight to the thinking behind the brand at the time.
Prior to that, Mr Lovegrove spent a number of years with Starbucks, working both in the UK and at its corporate office in Seattle.
He has also been an active member of the SCA for a number of years, judging at the World of Coffee events across Europe.
He said: “I am delighted to be joining Sanremo at this exciting time in the fast growing journey of the UK business. The Sanremo product range is outstanding and I can’t wait to get started. I am really looking forward to meeting Sanremo customers throughout the UK and Ireland and supporting them in growing their business with Sanremo coffee machines.”
Sanremo espresso machines are built by hand in Treviso, northern Italy. The brand is renowned for technical innovation, striking finish and distinctive design.
Precise temperature and pressure control combined with the energy savings they offer have proved popular with operators looking for advanced coffee systems.
Andrew Tucker, managing director at Sanremo UK, said Mr Lovegrove’s breadth of experience and skills would be an asset to the business.
