The former managing director of Caterplus, Paul Robottom, has set up a new catering business exclusively targeting the care sector.
The venture, called Signature Dining, is being supported by The Genuine Dining Co. Group of Companies, which itself is backed by serial entrepreneur Luke Johnson.
Mr Robottom told FEJ last week that the business will be utilising The Genuine Dining Co. Group’s infrastructure to begin with, including its commercial kitchen facilities where necessary.
Signature Dining is positioning itself as the UK’s only dedicated independent contract caterer to the Care, Extra Care, Assisted Living and Retirement Village sectors.
Mr Robottom said that within the last 18 months there had been a significant shift in the care catering market place, with several key acquisitions of large independent players altering the landscape.
“This has opened a gap for independent companies that understand the importance of a truly personal and attentive approach,” he said. “What Signature Dining will offer is certainly no ‘meals on wheels’ service – customer want good food cooked and prepared on-site.”
Mr Robottom boasts more than 25 years’ industry experience in nurturing a holistic view to food and service delivery.
Signature Dining’s model will be based around using the finest ingredients sourced from British growers, innovative preparation and professional service.
“As the only exclusive caterer to the senior living and care sectors, we bring a unique knowledge and understanding to a unique set of needs,” he said. “Our vision is to enhance the everyday lives of our customers, by offering a broad range of fresh, home style seasonal menus, cooked from scratch daily.”
