Jestic Foodservice Equipment has bolstered the range of brands it offers in one hit after taking over Manchester-based supplier Malibu Corporation.
The deal sees Jestic gain control of one of the industry’s longest running suppliers of cooking equipment, having traded in the market since 1982.
It is the first acquisition that Jestic has made since it was taken over by South Africa-based Universal Industries International in April this year.
Malibu, which is run by founder and owner Tony Keating – who will remain in position – is known for supplying heavy duty griddles, ventless fryers, ice cream machines and drawer warmers to casual dining and quick service restaurants, hotels and convenience stores across the UK.
Brands that it distributes include Miraclean (main image), Wittco, Perfect Fry and Merrychef Eiko ovens.
Ben Dale, managing director of Jestic, said Malibu’s portfolio was a good fit with its own.
“We are delighted to welcome Malibu Corporation to the Jestic family and look forward to working with them to further grow the business. This is an exciting chapter in the growth of Jestic and the range of equipment distributed by Malibu perfectly complements and broadens our existing portfolio.
“There is also a great cultural fit between the two companies, who share the same values and a commitment to work collaboratively with customers and provide the highest possible levels of service.”
Malibu will continue to operate as a separate company under its existing name, with Jestic promising to invest in the company’s facilities.
