EXCLUSIVE: Jestic launches free kitchen workshop programme

Michael Eyre, culinary director

Jestic Foodservice Equipment, the UK supplier of brands such as Josper, Henny Penny and Wood Stone, is launching a one-day educational workshop for operators created entirely by its in-house culinary team.

The plan is for the workshops to be held on a quarterly basis, with each one addressing a specific application of the kitchen.

The first workshop, on Wednesday 28 June, is on frying and the company is intending to follow that up with classes on pizzas, bakery and solid fuel cooking.

Far from being a hard sell, or tied to specific items of equipment that Jestic sells, the free interactive workshops are designed to provide operators with engaging, insightful and ultimately practical advice that will help them in the day-to-day running of their kitchens.

Operators will get the chance to ask questions and put the theory into practice in the kitchen.

“We want to offer them something they can take back to their business and provide them with knowledge,” explained culinary director Michael Eyre. “It is an educational thing. Hopefully people will go away and make safer, more consistent, better quality food because of it.”

The course programme for the frying workshop is highly comprehensive and informative, covering everything from the science behind heating oil to the pros and cons of current oil testing methods.

The practical aspect of the workshop will involve demonstrations of open, low volume and pressure frying.

The quarterly educational workshops will take place at Jestic’s development kitchen at Paddock Wood, which has recently been expanded.

The workshop will take place at Jestic’s new state-of-the-art development kitchen in Paddock Wood and be led by Mr Eyre.

He said the session would arm operators with valuable information and best practice tips they can apply to their own business, whether frying is already a major part of their operation or something they are interested in expanding into.

For more information on the workshop, or to sign up, visit the Jestic stand at Commercial Kitchen (A26) or follow the details below. There is no cost to sign up.
