Restaurant & Takeaway Innovation Expo is getting bigger every year, with seven co-located shows comprising the huge event at London’s ExCel over the next two days. Here’s our special guide to the exhibition and the catering equipment suppliers that will be there with solutions dedicated to this fast-paced market.
This year’s Restaurant & Takeaway Innovation Expo is destined to be the largest yet, as organiser Prysm Group is running it alongside six other sector shows: Hotel & Spa Tech Live; Coffee Shop Innovation Expo; Hotel Facilities Management Expo 2018; Street Food Live; Restaurant & Bar Tech Live; and Restaurant & Bar Design Show.
All held under the roof of London’s ExCel on 25-26 September, the event represents an opportunity to join 8,000 other senior hospitality professionals and find the brand new innovations, technologies, tools and strategies that are transforming the takeaway sector. Plus, tickets are free for trade visitors, with registration now open.
The show features several different areas including a Delivery Zone, a Drinks Zone, the Panel Theatre and a Networking Area, the latter of which will offer the foodservice industry’s leading lights the chance to engage with, and learn from, like-minded professionals from across the globe, enabling them to develop their professional knowledge, pass on their own industry insight, and cultivate invaluable new business contacts.
Of particular interest to those in the catering equipment sector is the Kitchen Innovation Zone, sponsored by Northern Refrigeration and Catering Equipment. This will showcase the best appliances currently on the market, with organisers scouring the globe to find state-of-the-art professional kitchen equipment that is both innovative and energy efficient.
Visitors will find the highest-quality kitchen innovations that the world’s leading restaurateurs and decision-makers will be using to grow their business and stay ahead of their competition in 2018 and beyond.
This year, the event will play host to over 200 seminars from some of the industry’s greatest minds and most prestigious leaders, including the likes of Justin Goes, regional director (Europe) at Subway, Matt Snell, managing director at Gusto Restaurants, Steve Phillips, operations director at Busaba, and Mark Lilley, CEO of Abokado.
Once visitors are finished gaining invaluable insights from the top dogs, they will also have many panel debates to choose from, 350 innovative suppliers, and a variety of one-to-one networking opportunities.
Alongside the exhibition is an awards programme comprising the Food & Drink Innovation Awards and the Kitchen Innovation Award. Nominees will compete within their categories to pitch to a panel of expert judges and earn the title of ‘innovator’, with the winner being announced at the end of each session. It’s an opportunity for nominees to showcase their products or services, while every pitch is made in front of a live audience, which should make for an exciting spectacle. It should also enable the audience to pick up tips on how to change the industry.
The Kitchen Innovation Award in particular will recognise the innovator that has created a product that will serve restaurant and takeaway kitchens for years to come. Judges will be looking out for something that stands out for its quality and functionality, as well as its ability to innovate and facilitate back-of-the-house operations.
