Falcon unveils microwave that is “almost impossible to operate incorrectly”

Falcon Foodservice Equipment has teamed up with Marren Group to launch a microwave that the duo say is “almost impossible to operate incorrectly”.

The new Falcon-branded ScanHeat system allows users to simply scan the barcode on the food packaging, place the item in the chamber and leave the oven to do the rest.

They believe it will appeal especially to sectors such as self-service, QSR, universities, canteens and hospitals that want a safe and effective cooking solution.

The microwave was developed by Marren after Falcon approached it to create an oven that would ensure food safety and quality while minimising HACCP-critical touch points.

It is based on a multi-stage cooking concept, which allows three separate steps within each program, making it easy to get the exact results required.

The system, which is stackable in order for operators to make the best use of their kitchen footprint, can hold up to 900 programs and new menus can be added via an app.

As the oven can be used without unwrapping the food or touching the control panel, Falcon hopes it will prove popular with operators keen to ensure hygiene.

The removable roof liner and air filter also makes it easy to keep the unit clean.

Lawrence Hughes, sales director at Falcon, said: “Marren is the microwave specialist. They develop excellent microwaves and they back them up with award-winning, market-leading service. When we realised our customers had a requirement for this type of technology, Marren were the obvious partner of choice for us.”

Falcon will be offering a full customer after-sales package, including training, while Marren will be delivering comprehensive service support, from full PPM to ad hoc repair.

Kelly Barrell, business development manager at Marren, said: “We are really excited to be working with an iconic brand like Falcon Foodservice Equipment on the ScanHeat microwave. After focusing on this project for over 16 months it’s so rewarding to see it winging its way into the market.”
