FEA reinforces vital role of supplier training and education with awards backing

Industry trade association FEA has lent its backing to Kitchen & Equipment Awards Week, the joint awards initiative created by FEJ and Catering Insight to honour the industry’s efforts in 2020.

With nominations are already pouring in for the awards, FEA will be sponsoring the Supplier of the Year – Training & Education category, continuing its support for this area as it has done for the last four years of the Catering Insight Awards.

FEA chair John Whitehouse said: “The Catering Insight and FEJ Awards are now mainstays for the industry and are recognised as being independent and authoritative. The whole industry looks to the awards to see who are the runners, riders and recipients each year.

“The Kitchen & Equipment Awards is an excellent initiative, given the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic. It will be a welcome chance to enjoy some celebrations, albeit remotely, and to recognise the great work that the industry and its supply chain has continued to carry out over the past year.”

Reflecting on the current market situation, Mr Whitehouse said: “The ability to adapt will be one of the keys that will lead us through the pandemic and its aftermath. As an industry we are blessed with strong leaders and businesses that are well used to meeting the needs of their customers – and to adapting to changing and challenging conditions. To see this recognised will be testimony to their resolve.

“In these testing times the Awards provide a core of normality and ensure those who deserve recognition get it. Their hard work, enthusiasm and business drive, and their ongoing efforts to raise standards, are what make this industry great. This spirit and experience will see the industry re-emerge to great effect over the coming months and years.”

Mr Whitehouse said that sponsoring the Supplier of the Year – Training and Education category fits perfectly with the values of the FEA: “Raising the skill levels of our sector is the key to adding value, realising opportunities, and giving good customer service. We were proud to have celebrated 10 years of the CFSP training programme this year, with over 600 UK graduates. Their feedback confirms how important the work is in raising standards of professionalism and filling the ‘skills gap’.

“FEA is also involved in several other professional educational initiatives, including electrical engineer training as well as the PFS and CPD courses. They reflect our commitment to the belief that training and education will create a better tomorrow, both for individuals and for their businesses.
