FEJ AWARDS 2018 WINNER: Supplier of the Year for Training & Education

Simon Lohse, Rational and Andrew Seymour, FEJ

The winner of the Supplier of the Year for Training & Education award is Rational.

This accolade recognises that with today’s catering equipment becoming more flexible and feature-packed than ever before, the right training and user guidance can make a real difference to how it is operated in a live environment. From maximising benefits and features to operating equipment safely and efficiently, this award honours the supplier deemed to be setting the benchmark for product education.

After doubling the capacity of its Luton HQ, Rational has created a new Training Centre of Excellence with two development kitchens incorporating a café concept, training kitchen and service workshop.

Each training room contains full presentation facilities and access to a range of SelfCookingCenter and VarioCookingCenter for hands-on tuition.

New training programmes have also been developed for off-site use, including Academy Training and Expert Chef Academies, while a new Training and Resources App has been developed following feedback from end-users.

It includes videos showing how to cook specific recipes and carry out daily maintenance tasks, as well as a searchable database to locate dealers and service providers.

Simon Lohse, managing director of Rational UK (pictured receiving the trophy from FEJ editor Andrew Seymour), said: “It’s fantastic that our operators have voted for us to win. It’s a real honour to be recognised for our training and support. We are going to work even harder on our training academy for chefs as well as our training and resources app and the ConnectedCooking portal for professional kitchens.”
