The winner of the Industry Innovator of the Year award is Alan Todd, head of food and pub partnerships at S.A. Brain & Co.
This award follows input and recommendations from senior members of the industry and goes to someone who lives and breathes food development and kitchen innovation.
Alan Todd is an advocate of using retail trends and forecasts to ensure his company’s menu cycles are right on point and his attention to detail has led to the development of innovative dishes that deliver true value for money to customers.
He has helped S.A. Brain & Co deploy robust back-of-house systems that provide added accountability and clarity in areas such as reporting, monitoring and ingredient management as part of his ambition to make the foodservice operation fully digital.
And he has been at the helm of the team as it has launched a first-of-its-kind kitchen facility to nurture and develop chef talent and create career pathways within the food industry.
Alan is at the heart of a business which has demonstrated that it is prepared to invest in the future of its chefs and the food service it provides to customers.

We are taking people on in a lot of different ways and nurturing them. The family has put a lot of money behind this.”
