FEJ AWARDS 2022 SHORTLIST: Multi-Site Kitchen Project House of the Year

Multi-Site Kitchen Project House of the Year

The Multi-Site Kitchen Project House of the Year award acknowledges that standalone items of equipment need to be knitted together with the perfect design to deliver a winning kitchen and that’s the job of a professional kitchen house or distributor.

This accolade applies to those companies that are working with multi-site users to deliver full kitchen projects encompassing everything from design and specification to installation and commissioning.

We are delighted to announce that the 2022 shortlist includes the following companies:

Story continues below

Advance Group

Advance Group has helped scores of operators emerge from the pandemic with the necessary tools to tackle the changing landscape they face, including some of the most well-known chains on the high street. The company has put agility at the centre of its strategy in order to react quickly to customers’ demands while challenging conventional ways of doing things. A focus on relationship management and delivering exceptional customer experience has led to Advance becoming a trusted partner for operators in a range of sectors, both for new installations and service and maintenance work. Additionally, it has strengthened its asset management division with some significant appointments. All of the roles it has hired for are new, underscoring the growth it is seeing in demand for turnkey solutions and kitchen innovation.

Airedale Group

Airedale Group has weathered the Covid storm while still maintaining its core principles of long-term investment. The company has made significant investments in its project and manufacturing businesses, providing a one-stop-shop solution for some of the UK’s largest operators. It remains a trusted partner for many multisite operators that rely on it not just for near-term project management but also for guidance into how their kitchens will look in the future. The company has invested in technological expertise to support areas such as automation, data and IoT, and also moved premises to a larger, more modern headquarters in Yorkshire to support future growth. Additionally, the company strengthened its service proposition in 2022 with the acquisition of Birmingham-based Network Catering Engineers.

HCE Foodservice Equipment

It has been a productive 12 months for HCE Foodservice Equipment with the completion of a broad range of projects spanning fast food, contract catering, fine dining restaurants and casino operators. HCE has been the lead service provider on multiple kitchen refurbishments for one of the UK’s largest pub groups, which has involved the full spectrum of its offering from initial site surveys and CAD designs through to strip-out, delivery and installation. It has recruited additional design, project management and account management resources to support its growth and switched to hybrid company vehicles to cut emissions and costs. Investments have been made in the latest BIM technology and CAD software, including 3D modelling so that clients can experience a virtual-built environment to ensure it is optimised for their catering operation.

Space Group

Space Group’s strategy has been to offer a broad range of related services to a diverse client base across various sectors and this has served the business well as it has recovered from the pandemic. Over the past year it has picked up a record number of high quality chains that have commissioned the company to support it in the design, supply and installation of kitchen facilities. As part of the Nisbets group, the business has been able to work collaboratively with sister companies who specialise in complementary areas to provide a full front- and back-of-house solution. Being able to offer customers access to the National Catering Equipment Centre, which houses a digital demo kitchen, offers further value to those that work with the business.

Sprint Group
Investments in growing, training and developing its team has paid dividends for Sprint Group, with the company delivering more projects last year than at any stage in its 28-year history. From creating a bespoke kitchen design for Burger King’s flagship store in Leicester Square as part of its vegan campaign to working with Hawksmoor on its biggest restaurant to date, the company’s project management, design and installation teams have delivered a genuine turnkey solution each time. As a result of its growing relationships with clients such as Boparan Restaurant Group and The Ivy, Sprint has been entrusted to work on new, top secret concepts, proposing and trialling different equipment for potential roll-outs. Headcount at the firm has increased 25% to meet demand.

The 2022 FEJ Awards ceremony and gala dinner takes place on Wednesday 14 September, the first evening of the Commercial Kitchen show, at the Hilton Canary Wharf, London.
