BGL Rieber

Rieber’s CONNECT system links the brand’s equipment to a mobile phone and also includes HACCP and cooking programmes for added efficiency. CONNECT will switch the Rieber K-Pot electric chafing dish on to cook fresh food or regenerate chilled or frozen foods, with digital controlled temperature accurate to within one degree. Just as importantly, the system satisfies HACCP and hygiene regulations by recording temperature and time. Tailored cooking programmes mean virtually any type of event catering fare, from slow-cooked or simmered foods such as shepherd’s pie, curries and buffet food, can be safely and successfully regenerated. Using CONNECT with Rieber’s 10-compartment Multipolar fridge and food-safe QR labels, caterers can also offer takeaway chilled food for remote collection, controlled by app.

Electrolux Professional

In the past year, there have been a number of significant developments in Electrolux Professional’s commercial foodservice offering, including the launch of the LiberoPro, a plug-and-play modular cooking appliance designed to offer operators greater flexibility for indoor and outdoor dining. The LiberoPro can be customised to suit any requirements, with users able to choose from a range of add-ons and appliances such as griddles, shelves and refrigerated drawers, while also being equipped with its own extraction system. It also launched the TrinityPro, which is capable of slicing, grating, dicing, shredding, chopping and emulsifying, all from a singular compact footprint. Additionally, its SpeeDelight high-speed cooking solution has been upgraded and now includes cycles for both burgers and club sandwiches, a brighter display and a 10°C increase in bottom plate temperature.

Falcon Foodservice Equipment

Combining the power, controllability and flexibility of traditional gas tops with the energy efficiency, ease of use and rapid heat-up of induction, Falcon’s induction solid top is a leap forward in innovation. The unit has five temperature zones, each independent of the other. The central zone is 9kW, the right and left zones are 2kW, and the front and back are 1.5kW. Just like a gas solid top, the hob can handle any size of pan and the tough 6mm ceramic glass means they can be slid across from zone to zone. Additionally, Falcon has launched the market’s first hydrogen-powered range of commercial cooking appliances, including chargrills, griddles and fryers. The line is designed for on and off-grid use to support government efforts to scale up low carbon hydrogen supply.

Foster Refrigerator

Foster invested an additional £3m in its King’s Lynn production facility to bring its third generation EcoPro G3 to market, installing world-class production lines, foaming jigs and fibre optic lasers. The range represents a complete rebuild from the ground up and incorporates technology such as Foster Shield, which provides advanced temperature control and hygienic design. Air distribution is optimised by computational fluid dynamics design technology, often found in Formula 1 and the aerospace industry, ensuring efficient operation even when shelves are fully loaded. The brand’s +stayclear condenser is now fitted as standard, and compared to a traditional fin condenser it means a cabinet consumes 36% less energy after 12 months. G3 also features the latest-generation intelligent controller processor.

Several of Welbilt’s brands have released cutting-edge kitchen solutions that raise the bar for efficiency. The Convotherm maxx pro combi steamer range impresses with its 10-inch TFT HiRes glass touch display with scroll function, automatic cooking and triple glazing of the oven door for improved energy consumption. The Merrychef conneX has transformed the accelerated oven sector with a new platform that delivers speeds up to 80% faster than other cooking methods. The breakthrough conneX 12 and conneX 16 are the quietest, fastest, and most connected ovens Merrychef has ever developed. Targeting the trend for healthier drinks, the Multiplex Albi range dispenses a consistent drink which can be set from a ratio of 4:1 through to 10:1 for a freshly-made taste, while Crem’s EX3 has been reconfigured in a compact format.

Williams Refrigeration
The Fry Station Drawer is available in one and two drawer models, and features a variable temperature function that allows it to work either as a refrigerator or freezer. One issue with frying frozen food is cooking oil temperature loss. This can lead to inconsistent results and increased energy use. The product helps reduce this thanks to its optional basket hanger attachment. Contents can be scooped from the drawers into baskets and placed on the hanger. This reduces the size of frozen ice crystals on the food, cutting the recovery time of the cooking oil when the basket is placed in the fryer. Like other models in the Aztra range, it uses the eco-friendly refrigerant R600a and precision-injected high density polyurethane insulation to provide extremely energy efficient operation.

The 2022 FEJ Awards ceremony and gala dinner takes place on Wednesday 14 September, the first evening of the Commercial Kitchen show, at the Hilton Canary Wharf, London.
