A former EMEA-level sales manager at the Ali Group is set to help a UK catering equipment supplier ship grills and cooking products into the European market.
Don Riezebos, who has spent the last seven years heading up Ice-O-Matic’s regional sales activities, has joined Gastronomy Plus as its first export director.
The company, which owns Sous Vide Tools, is poised to open a warehouse and distribution hub in the Netherlands in a bid to grow export sales.
Gastronomy Plus’ managing director, Alex Shannon, explained: “With the growing popularity of sous vide cooking in mainland Europe, coupled with the fact that we are now manufacturing Kasai grills and Bertha charcoal ovens in the UK for export to Europe and beyond, now is the perfect time for Gastronomy Plus to have its own distribution centre on the continent.
“From there we will also be able to distribute a full range of sous vide equipment including pouches, water baths, and vacuum packing machines.”
Mr Riezebos, who also spent six years at Hoshizaki before moving to the Ali Group, will be based at the new Dutch facility, which is situated in Roosendaal.
He said: “With the acquisition of the Bertha brand and the growing reputation of the SousVideTools brand, this is a really exciting time to be taking on this newly created role within the business and a great opportunity for me to actively search for distributors right across Europe.”
