Danish bakery chain Ole & Steen has announced the appointment of Jason Cotta, former managing director of Costa Coffee UK & Ireland as its new CEO.
In addition to almost ten years’ experience at Costa, Cotta can also claim Travelodge and TGI Friday’s as his former employers.
He replaces Jesper Friis as CEO of the chain, which is known as Lagkagehuset in its native Denmark and operates 11 sites in London.
The chain has recently made strides towards building an American presence, with three sites having been opened in New York this year.
The company’s chairman, Henrik Brandt, spoke highly of the new CEO, saying: “Jason Cotta has more than 20 years of extensive management experience with roll-out and operation of strong café and restaurant concepts in and outside the UK.
“This experience, as well as Jason’s constant focus on a high-quality customer experience and developing dedicated employees who help realise the customer experience, means that Jason is the right CEO to continue our ambitious plan to make Ole & Steen’s unique products and services available to even more consumers in and outside Denmark.”
Brandt added that Cotta’s predecessor had stepped down for personal reasons, and thanked Friis for his service to the company.
