A Thai restaurant chain with ambitious plans to more than triple its store estate in the next four years has appointed its first ever ‘head of people’ to help facilitate the transition.

Giggling Squid, which currently has 15 sites across the south of England, has hired Faith Locker-Marsh to take on the role having previously worked at The Big Easy as people and talent manager, and AMT Coffee as recruitment manager.

Locker-Marsh will be leading recruitment and training programmes at all of the chain’s sites, including the most recent opening in Bury St Edmunds and soon-to-launch Berkhamsted restaurant.

The food philosophy at Giggling Squid is intrinsically linked to co-owner, Pranee Laurillard, who is passionate about offering a fresh take on Thai cuisine. Alongside Andy Laurillard, the dynamic husband-and-wife team ensures Giggling Squid boasts notable combinations of interesting and authentic Thai food.

Giggling Squid opened its first site in Hove in 2009 and is on course to hit its target of 50 UK restaurants within four years.

Pranee Laurillard said that ambitious expansion plans mean that staff training and exceptional customer service is of the utmost importance. “We are absolutely delighted to have Faith on board and very excited to work with her on our bespoke recruitment strategy and training programmes,” she said. “Faith’s experience speaks volumes and we look forward to benefiting from her knowledge.”
