Senior Greene King executive set for switch to SSP Group

Greene King’s chief operating officer Richard Lewis is moving to travel F&B provider SSP Group, where he will take up the post of CEO for the UK and Ireland.

His new role, which is due to begin from 1 September, will also see him sit on the company’s group executive team and report into group CEO Simon Smith (pictured).

Mr Lewis brings a wealth of experience to the Ritazza and Upper Crust operator, having spent the past two years driving sales, market share and productivity gains and improve customer service.

He said: “I’m hugely excited to be joining SSP UK & Ireland and moving into the travel F&B arena. SSP is a fantastic business with a great team, and many opportunities for future growth. I look forward to continuing the success that Simon achieved in the role these past five years.”

Mr Smith added: “With experience in operations, commercial, property and general management, and a track record of delivering strong financial performance, he’s the perfect fit for the role.”

SSP employs more than 37,000 staff and serves approximately 1.5 million customers every day. It operates from more than 600 sites – mostly airports and railway stations – in 33 countries around the world.
