Greene King has reported a huge boost in drink sales after 900 of its pubs recently screened the first ever round of Premier League fixtures on Amazon.
The chain sold more than 250,000 extra pints at sites showing the initial round of games last Tuesday evening and a further 300,000 for the Wednesday night games, which included several high-profile fixtures.
Phil Thomas, chief commercial officer at Greene King, said: “We are delighted to report positive sales growth from the first set of Premier League matches on Amazon, which were screened across all of our sports pubs.
“Football is the most popular sport to watch at a pub and by investing in the best audio-visual technology, our pubs have an unrivalled atmosphere on match days. Our investment in the Amazon Premier League Pass also demonstrates our commitment to broadcasting all major sporting occasions, as well as our ambition to become the undisputed home of pub sport.”
Greene King is hopeful that it will be able to maintain the sales momentum, with more than 900 pubs set to show all the festive Premier League fixtures.
