Southern based multiple operator, The Healy Group, is undertaking its first major investment with Star Pubs and Bars to introduce a food operation at a prominent wet-led site in Southampton.
Marking the group’s fourth agreement with Star, The Healy Group is to pump £412,000 into transforming The Regent’s Park Hotel and installing equipment as part of a drive to focus on food sales.
The pub will be closed for four weeks and when it reopens mid-May will offer a combination of food, coffee, BT and Sky Sports and weekly live entertainment as well as craft beers and premium quality drinks.
The Healy Group has a total of 26 pubs in its estate, 13 of which are Star sites. The Group has been working with Star for nine years and has ambitions to have 30 leased pubs ultimately.
The pub estate stretches from London and the South Coast to Oxfordshire and consists of a mix of free houses, leased pubs and pubs run on temporary agreements.
The pubs include community and town pubs, country inns and sports pubs.
They have been running The Regent’s Park on a temporary agreement.
Marion Healy said: “Our intention was always to take the pub to the next level with significant investment. It now has that in place and as a result will offer something different for the area. We see it as a real opportunity to create a fantastic business as there really isn’t anything like it within a four-mile radius.
Neil Convery, regional operations director for Star Pubs & Bars said: “We’ve worked with the Healys for many years. They’re great operators. They know Southampton really well, have high standards and a real understanding of what people want. They took The Regent’s Park on a temporary basis to get to know the neighbourhood better and saw that there was a real need for a better quality offer in the locality, including great value food, coffee and live sport.”
