Organisers of the HOST exhibition held every two years in Milan say they have already signed up 800 companies for the next edition of the show, even though it doesn’t take place for another 18 months.
The show continues to attract catering equipment suppliers from all four corners of the globe and when it kicks off again in October 2017 four out of every 10 companies are expected to be from overseas. Close to 40 countries are likely to be represented in the process.
Fiera Milano said that space has been filling up so quickly in advance that the 2017 show will occupy 16 pavilions, two more than the previous edition, to cover the entire ground floor of the exhibition centre.
Space dedicated to foodservice equipment is already 63% full, while the available space for bar and coffee equipment is 65% allocated. 51% of space for companies wishing to exhibit tableware is sold out.
HOST said the decision of many companies to return to the show was down to the quality and international nature of the contacts they make during their participation. “Host is the jewel in the crown in our portfolio of events,” stated Corrado Peraboni, CEO of Fiera Milano.
Mr Peraboni added that the event is seeing particularly strong interest from the US, Canada and the Middle East. In terms of US exhibitors, last year’s show saw a 26% growth against the corresponding event in 2013, and 51% versus 2011. US visitor numbers were up 35% and 46% on the same basis.
As well as the thousands of operators that travel to the event from all over the globe, organisers seek out 1,500 “targeted buyers” from every continent in the world in a bid to facilitate business. Additionally, more than 400 events, including workshops, seminars and cooking demonstrations, are planned for the 2017 show.
