47% of customers believe that hotels and pubs need to improve their barbecue offerings, according to a recent survey.
This figure rises even further – to 56% – when only considering participants who live in London, while 49% of women survey said that they believed not enough thought was given to side dishes, and that more variety was needed.
The survey, which was carried out by barbecue manufacturer Cinders Barbecues and involved interviewing 1,000 people across 12 regions of the country, aimed to highlight customer attitudes towards barbecues in the UK.
The firm said of the findings: “These figures appeared to indicate that customers expect an outdoor dining experience wherever possible, which could translate into profit.”
It added: “There are implications to al fresco dining in general, and pointers for decision-makers who may be considering extending the footprint of food service.”
Amongst the other findings of the survey were that only 14% of those interviewed said that they preferred a basic burger to a gourmet burger and that a quarter of the 1,000 interviewees across twelve regions said that live music made a ‘huge difference’ to their enjoyment when eating outside.
