Indigo Series ice machines target operators looking to keep energy bills in check

Manitowoc Indigo Series ice machines

FEM has launched four new modular ice machines in its Manitowoc Indigo Series. The new models offer the highest levels of energy and water savings, while delivering a high production rate of quality ice, according to the supplier.

The new Indigo Series icemakers are modular machines, air-cooled as standard, that produce Manitowoc’s dice cubes – a hard, clear, slow-melting ice cube that provides maximum cooling and quick production. Half dice models are also available.

The Indigo models meet or exceed the stringent Energy Star and CEE performance criteria. The machines enable operators to cut energy costs further by scheduling ice production levels by time of day, either taking advantage of off-peak energy rates or to keep pace with varying demand throughout the week.

Each unit features advanced self-diagnostic technology which monitors all aspects of ice production, ensuring maximum operating efficiency. An acoustic sensor probe listens to the sound of the ice forming, guaranteeing consistently clear ice and perfect machine operation, even in hard water areas. The models also feature an EasyRead display, which flags up cleaning reminders and other useful information regarding the machines status.

The models’ hinged front door swings outwards for easy access and removable components make for fast, efficient and hygienic cleaning. The Indigo models have a corrosion resistant, stainless-steel finished DuraTech exterior which resists fingerprints and dirt, while the key components are made from AlphaSan antimicrobial material which reduces slime build-up.

An optional patented LuminIce growth inhibitor is available, which controls the growth of bacteria and yeast in the food zone, keeping the ice pure and uncontaminated.

The smallest of the new models is the ID0606A which produces 275kg of ice in a 24-hour period. The ID0606A measures 762mm (w) x 622mm (d) x 546mm (h) and is compatible with the B400 ice bin, which stores 132kg ice, or the B570 bin, which holds 195kg. The ID0606A is available from FEM distributors for a list price of £4660 (plus VAT) with a three-year parts and labour warranty.

At the other end of the scale is the largest of the new models – the ID1406A – with a whopping 709kg/24hr ice output. The high production rate is complemented by the B970 ice bin which keeps 323kg of ice ready for when it is required. The ID1406A measures 1219mm (w) x 622mm (d) x 749mm (h).
