The organisers of industry trade fair Internorga have abandoned plans to run this year’s show in June and said it will instead return in March 2021.
The foodservice show was rescheduled for 20-24 June following its postponement earlier this month due to coronavirus.
But Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH (HMC) said the only option now was to cancel it completely and focus on next year.
It said the move would provide exhibitors with a solid basis for further planning. The event will now take place from 12-16 March 2021.
“In view of the increasing spread of the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and the impossibility to make any reasonable predictions regarding the future development, our exhibitors, our visitors and we ourselves no longer have a reliable basis for planning this event,” stated Bernd Aufderheide, president and CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress.
“As a matter of fairness and prudence we must cancel this trade fair, which we hereby do with great regret.”
