Just Eat to ‘turbo-charge’ UK operation with plans to hire 150 tech specialists in three years

Food delivery firm Just Eat has announced a huge recruitment drive to hire 150 tech specialists over the next three years in a sign of its intent to dominate the sector.  

The investment will significantly increase the size of Just Eat’s UK tech and product teams, with 80 brand new roles, and represents the platform’s largest recruitment drive in three years.

The newly-created roles span all levels – from entry level to highly experienced – and include associate engineers, principal engineers and technology managers.

The bolstered technology team, which will be spread across Just Eat’s two UK tech centres, will focus on further enhancing user experience for both customers and restaurant partners, as well as offering greater performance insight to help better support its 28,900 restaurant partners in the UK.

Fernando Fanton, chief product and technology officer, said: “As the market leader in online food delivery, technology and data is absolutely central to the service we provide to our 22.8m customers and 87,500+ restaurant partners globally. It’s our job to understand and serve the Just Eat customer.

“Adding 150 people to our tech team in the UK this year will turbo-charge the great work we have already done to personalise the app experience and help us serve every customer’s takeaway moment.”

In the past 18 months, Just Eat has hired over 200 engineers, developers, and data scientists globally. Once the 150 Bristol and London-based roles have been filled, Just Eat’s UK technology team, based across both sites will consist of almost 650 people.
