Le Pain Quotidien has appointed a managing director for its UK business for the first time.
Peter Jenkins, who previously served as operations director at the chain, took the MD’s post earlier this month.
He joined the company a year ago having formerly worked in operations roles both for Pret A Manger and Selfridges.
Le Pain Quotidien currently has 24 outlets in the UK and more than 200 globally. All its stores in the UK are company-owned and, together with its self-owned US and Paris stores , make up around half of its overall estate.
The business was founded in 1990 by Alain Coumont, then a young chef who could not find the right bread to serve in his Brussels restaurant.
He decided to make it himself and opened a small bakery where he could knead flour, salt and water into what have become his signature rustic loaves. Le Pain Quotidien is a privately held company with its headquarters in New York.
