Leon franchise head is latest to join GDK’s all-star cast

With plans to open dozens of restaurants in the UK over the next year and beyond, German Doner Kebab has been hoovering up talent from across the fast-casual sector to lead the drive.

This year already it has hired a new UK MD, global COO and USA franchise director as it strengthens its senior team.

And now Leon’s franchise chief Nick Scovell, has become the latest big name to join the all-star cast, taking over as director of operations.

His predecessor, Michael Biggins, will begin a new role in the business as director of strategic initiatives.

Mr Scovell was head of franchise at Leon, where he led growth strategy and scale planning for both UK and international restaurant openings.

He has more than 20 years of commercial and operations experience within blue chip, fast growing and scaling organisations, and has worked with Giraffe Restaurants and Pizza Hut.

Mr Biggins’ new role will see him develop UK business and brand support, working closely with UK managing director Sofia Dimen on strategic initiatives to drive what the company calls “systemwide ops excellence”.

He has extensive global business experience and has worked in quick-service, fast-casual, casual dining, and family dining with McDonald’s, Metromedia Restaurant Group (Bennigan’s and Ponderosa) and IHOP/International House of Pancakes.

German Doner Kebab is bidding to revolutionise the kebab vertical across the globe by bringing a fresh, high-quality proposition to the market. The brand now has more than 130 restaurants worldwide.
