Lincat has assured customers that it will refund or replace any IMC waste disposers affected by a safety recall that it recently issued.
The company put out an immediate product recall for the 500 series waste disposers at the end of April after identifying a safety risk during a technical review.
The warning advises users to stop using the equipment immediately, isolate the electricity supply to the equipment, and contact Lincat to arrange a return or refund, or free removal and replacement with an upgraded unit.
Lincat has also notified all of its UK distributors to identify end-user sites to enable it to make contact.
The manufacturer stated: “Following the closure of the IMC factory, the manufacturing of all IMC products has been moved to Lincat. We have conducted a full technical review of every IMC product as part of the transfer process. As a result of this we have issued a voluntary recall on the 500 series waste disposers. The full technical review revealed in some instances there could be a potential safety risk with these disposers.”
The recall concerns 500 series models: 523, 525, 526, single phase and three phase. All units should be able to be recognised by the distinctive black rubber housing above the motor.
Model numbers affected are: F52/029, F52/030, F52/301, F52/321, F52/500, F52/501, F52/502, F52/510, F52/520, F52/522, F52/530, F52/602, F52/612, F52/622, F52/632, F52/651, F52/681, LFWD523/1, LFWD523/3, LFWD525/1, LFWD525/3, LFWD526/1, LFWD526/3 and spares assemblies S52/057, S52/010, S52/020, G40/094, G40/223, G40/228 and G40/238.
