Loungers relocates a store for the first time as it pounces on vacant Prezzo premises

Loungers is relocating one of its most popular restaurants to a larger site formerly occupied by troubled asual dining chain Prezzo.

The Ocho Lounge in Penarth, near Cardiff, has traded from its Windsor Road address for a decade, but it has been bursting at the seams for the last couple of years.

Loungers has been looking for an alternative larger capacity site for some time and snapped up the opportunity to take over the Prezzo branch when it became available. Penarth is one of 94 restaurants that Prezzo announced it was shutting this year after implementing a CVA.

The relocation marks the first time in Loungers’ history that a site has moved, even though it is just 25 metres across the road.

Loungers will spend £650,000 on the new unit to ensure the Penarth community has a bigger space to use across the day to meet, drink, eat and relax.

The new neighbourhood café bar will have 150 covers trading across two floors, more than doubling the capacity of the original Lounge and enabling more of the Penarth community to enjoy Loungers’ hospitality.

Jeremy Burton-Dickie, operations manager for Wales, said: “These are really exciting times for Ocho. We’ve massively enjoyed being part of the Penarth community since we opened 10 years ago and it has been fantastic to see the high street develop and evolve during this time. We’ve been looking to give Ocho a bit of a spruce up for some time now, so getting the opportunity to move over the road to slightly bigger premises was ideal.”
