MARKET TALK: Equipment for rent, car park catch-ups and strategic moves in lockdown

In this week’s episode of Market Talk, Jon Steward, European head of Foodservice Equipment Rental at PKL, and Steve McGarvie, sales and marketing director at Victor Manufacturing, join us to discuss the respective paths of their businesses in the industry. 

PKL’s long-term catering equipment rental company U-Select has recently rebranded to Foodservice Equipment Rental and become part of the worldwide FER family in the USA and Middle East.

Mr Steward discusses the motives behind the rejig and reveals what customers can expect from the organisation following the move. He also outlines where the rental model fits into the hospitality sector today and why he thinks it can add so much value to operators that want access to the newest equipment over a fixed period.

Victor Manufacturing is a leading provider of food servery equipment and cabinets with more than 75 years of history behind it. The Bradford-based firm recently relocated its premises and Mr McGarvie describes what it was like completing such a significant move during a pandemic as well as what it means for the business in terms of future capacity.

He also discusses how the firm has adapted to new ways of working during the pandemic and explains why partnerships with the likes of Duke Manufacturing have come at a good time given the demand for particular types of equipment in a delivery-focused world.
