MARKET TALK: Flying solo in a pandemic, the credit challenge and supplier in-country business models

In this week’s episode of Market Talk, Riccardo Scuotto, export managing director at Krupps, and Jamie Poole, sales director at &Serve, join us to discuss the latest developments in the market.

Mr Scuotto oversees warewashing provider Krupps’ activities in the UK market and he outlines how the company has stepped up its digital investments to engage with customers while the industry can’t physically travel. He also reflects on the importance of training and the ways in which the company is working to support the industry on that front.

With the impact of the global shipping crisis continuing to be felt in the catering equipment sector, he speculates on the future of in-country business models for overseas manufacturers as the need to keep costs down and guarantee supply intensifies.

Story continues below

Mr Poole is the sales director of &Serve, a catering and bar equipment reseller that he set up less than 24 hours after being made redundant from hospitality supply firm Last Straw due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He shares his experiences of setting up a business in the middle of a global crisis, the credit challenges that start-ups face and his advice for other catering equipment professionals that might be thinking of going it alone.
