MARKET TALK: Kitchen horticulture, green-fingered chefs and buying a catering equipment business in a pandemic

In this week’s episode of Market Talk, Gary Baker, founder of Intelligent Appliances and Mike Floyd, managing director of Lovat’s Group, join us to discuss new developments in the foodservice market.

Intelligent Appliances is a unique British start-up company that’s on a mission to change how consumers think about kitchen appliances, but it has also expanded into the hospitality segment with a range of commercial equipment.

Mr Baker discusses how its Urban Cultivator – a fully automated indoor kitchen garden – allows chefs to grow their own greens on-site and experiment with new dishes.

Meanwhile, Mr Floyd reflects on his first eight months at the helm of the catering equipment service business that he and his wife acquired last year following a career in facilities management.

He outlines his expansion plans for the Scotland-based firm and the challenges its customers are facing from an operational perspective.
