MARKET TALK: Motorway catering, sustainable kitchens and that David Attenborough documentary

In this week’s episode of Market Talk, Mike Jackson, director of supply chain management and head of charity at Roadchef, and Emma Brooks, general manager of Quintex Systems, debate the issue of sustainability and what it means for the foodservice sector.

With 91,000 square feet of catering space across its 30 UK locations and foodservice partners such as McDonald’s, Costa and Leon, Roadchef is passionate about ways in which it can become a more sustainable business. Mr Jackson reveals some of the key initiatives he is involved in and explains how the operator manages multiple brands in the current climate.

Emma Brooks leads Quintex and she outlines why energy management remains vital for commercial kitchen operations and the role that technology has to play in facilitating this moving forward. She also discusses how the company’s new QFinance initiative can support operators through leaner times and explains why everybody in the industry needs to watch David Attenborough’s new ‘A Life On Our Planet’ feature documentary.
