In this week’s episode of Market Talk, Jon Davies, managing director of Levy UK and Paula Sherlock, managing director of Signature FSE, join us to discuss the key issues facing their businesses, and specifically the predicament that caterers in the events and stadium sectors find themselves in right now.
Mr Davies heads up Compass Group’s specialist events and experiences catering business Levy UK, which provides foodservice solutions for a whole host of leisure, conference and sporting venues including Twickenham, Stamford Bridge and Wimbledon.
With crowds still barred from stadiums and arenas, he explains the frustrations of being last out of lockdown but also shares the insight that the company has gained from its involvement in a series of test events designed to enable the eventual return of fans to large venues. With new social distancing rules providing a further setback for the events catering sector again this week, he reflects on what the market might look like when it is finally allowed to operate at its full capacity again.
Meanwhile, Paula Sherlock, whose company represents a series of brands that offer front-of-house and back-of-house solutions for caterers, hotels and restaurants shares her thoughts on how the latest equipment innovations could provide a lifeline for customers as they require more operational flexibility than ever before.
And given that the majority of brands Signature that works with are based in Europe, she reveals the list of considerations that need to be addressed as Britain prepares to leave the EU.
