MARKET TALK: Smart suites, furlough thoughts and kitchen equipment pricing

In this week’s episode of Market Talk, Dean Simpson, operations director at Pentland Wholesale and Paul Neville, managing director of CHR Equipment, join us to discuss the latest developments in the market.

Mr Simpson details how the refrigeration and foodservice equipment supplier has managed its way through lockdown, from dealing with staff being furloughed to ensuring it has the operational capacity to meet any request that customers might have.

With the company sourcing a large proportion of equipment from the Far East, he also outlines the impact that a global shipping crisis is having on the catering equipment sector.

Mr Neville runs Lancashire-based catering equipment distributor CHR Equipment and he discusses the journey it has been on during the past 12 months, including the key timing of some major project wins and growing demand for cooking suites that provide a data-led approach to kitchen management.

He shares his thoughts on how equipment pricing might be affected by raw material cost increases and considers what the future holds for the industry over the coming months.
