MARKET TALK: The Burnt Chef Project, mental health and looking out for colleagues

In this week’s episode of Market Talk, Kris Hall, founder of The Burnt Chef Project and Russell Stilwell, business ambassador at Mates in Mind, join us for a special edition focusing on mental health in the workplace.

Mr Hall set up The Burnt Chef Project at the end of 2019 with the sole intention of eradicating mental health stigma within hospitality. Having worked in the sector for close to a decade, he has seen first-hand how the struggles of mental health issues can take their toll on those working in the trade.

He discusses how the organisation is tackling the challenges that this poses and why the launch of a new text-based support service is an important development in its quest to provide help where it is most needed.

Russell Stilwell is an ambassador of Mates in Mind, which was formed five years ago to offer clear information to employers on available support and guidance on mental health, mental illness and mental wellbeing, and how they can address this within their organisations.

Mr Stilwell shares his own candid experiences of dealing with mental health and details the steps that organisations can take at no cost to ensure staff feel cared for and supported.
