Meiko is promoting a new website that allows restaurant owners to purchase its UPster range of frontloading and hood dishwashing machines in ‘just three clicks’.
The web shop is aimed at the new generation of cafe and restaurant owners whose first instinct is to go online when seeking a dishwasher or glasswasher for their premises.
The manufacturer has been marketing the website at this week’s Casual Dining Show following its launch at the end of last year.
Regional sales manager, Martin Pinder, told FEJ that www.shopupster.co.uk was “not Meiko trying to sell directly” but a concept designed to encourage new business that may not ordinarily have been captured through its traditional channels.
“Our Shopupster website is a route to market for what we would consider will be new business – customers looking on the web for a machine and not necessarily having an existing dealer relationship,” he explained.
Orders placed through the site are fulfilled within three days, including a site and service survey. The UPster range is also covered by a two-year warranty.
Mr Pinder confirmed that the site does not compete with its indirect channels as commission on every order it takes is distributed to a dealer belonging to the ENSE buying group that it is a member of. Additionally, only UPster models can be purchased online.
“We would think that people who go onto this type of website are just trying to buy a one-off piece of kit at the best price, they are not going to do a whole kitchen refurbishment, they are going to go to their dealer for that,” said Mr Pinder.
The website contains a full listing of Meiko ENSE distributors for customers that want to make contact with a local partner that can supply other catering equipment and services.
Meiko has been running a special offer at the show, where any operator can receive a 10% discount on any orders placed via the website during the show.
