A group of employees from Middleby UK is aiming to lose 20% of their combined body weight by Christmas 2021 in a bid to raise funds for a young girl suffering from a rare form of blood cancer.

Group managing director Chris Jones, managing director Mel Jones, sales and marketing director Chris Clark, national account manager Phil Denness and HR manager Debora Douglass hope to raise £5,000 for Olivia and her family through The Sparkle Foundation.

Just two weeks after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, eight-year-old Olivia went from stage one treatment to stage three and was given a three-year treatment plan.

Her father sadly lost his job during Covid and at the same time the family were renovating their home.

Olivia and her family travel to hospital for treatments four times a week, which can mean a 390-mile round trip. Often they have to make the journey in one day due to the costs of staying in a hotel.

The chemotherapy affects Olivia’s legs and she is now using a wheelchair.

Middleby boss Chris Jones said: “Olivia is a bright and beautiful young girl that needs support and the Middleby team have stepped up to try and make a difference. We, of course, would have liked to help many other children in a similar situation.”

Mr Jones said that donations can be made quickly and securely via a dedicated JustGiving page HERE.
