Nando’s, KFC and Greggs will all embark on kitchen projects at a multimillion pound retail extension of Fosse Park shopping centre in Leicestershire.
Construction of the venue’s new Food Central area is steadily progressing into its fourth month, with the high street trio becoming the latest names to take space. Once finished, there will be room for 13 food units and four retail units.
Owners of the complex are creating a total of 140,000 square feet of additional retail and restaurant space, increasing the offering by up to 40% to complement the current Fosse line-up.
Mike Bell, senior asset manager at The Crown Estate, said the signing of chains such as Nando’s “demonstrates the confidence that retailers have in the investment we are making”.
The evolution of Fosse Park West and the investment for the redevelopment of the Food Court, now valued at £168m, includes a £5m placemaking and public realm investment in the existing centre.
This will deliver new communal areas and event spaces, complemented by improved landscaping, widened walkways and enhanced accessibility.
The development is now currently more than 45% pre-let with letting conversations ongoing.
However, one challenge it faces it securing a new anchor tenant after Debenhams backed out of plans to open a new site there following its recent CVA.
